New opportunities for Thai-Chinese Business Cooperation Accomplished under the New World Economic Order in the Epidemic Era.

On 8^th September 2020, a meeting “New opportunities for Thai-Chinese Business Cooperation under the new world economic order after the epidemic”

held by Thai-Beijing Chamber of Commerce, is successful on the Cloud Meeting platform of China International Fair for Trade in Service 2020 and ended with success.

Representatives from more than 70 organizations, meeting in person in Thailand and online meeting at Cloud in China.

First, the Chairman of Thai-Beijing Chamber of Commerce – Cai RongZhuang, gave the opening remarks. Chairman Cai RongZhuang said that the Thai-Beijing Chamber of Commerce has organized Thai business representatives to participate in the Fair for Trade in Services in Beijing for six times in a row. From the impact of this year’s epidemic, therefore we choose to use online together with an offline meeting. At the same time, we aim for more Thai companies to participate in the Fair for Trade in services in Thailand.

Minister of Advisory Office of Economic Advisory of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Kingdom of Thailand – Zhang Peidong delivered a speech: “the current epidemic is sweeping the world. Thai-China trade is countering the trend, demonstrates flexibility, capacity, trade and services. It is a growing industry for cooperation between China and Thailand. In the past few years, Thailand’s imports and exports of services to China remain in the top 20. In 2019, the number of Chinese tourists visiting Thailand reached 10.98 million, and the number of Chinese students studying in Thailand remained around 40,000 throughout the year. Meanwhile, Thai-China trade in transportation, finance, telecommunications E-commerce, culture and entertainment have continued to grow in recent years.” To reduce the impact of the epidemic in the international economy, both Thai and Chinese governments are actively adopting models and introducing relevant policies and measures in order to ensure economic and international trade policy of Thai-China entrepreneur operational guidelines will be established through the 2020 Fair for Trade in Services. To promote international exchange and cooperation in trade and service, and to make a positive contribution to the improvement of Thai-China economic and trade cooperation. I hope this meeting will be a complete success!

Minister of Commerce of the Thai Embassy in China – Qi Yawen, introduced the economic and trade situation between China and Thailand. The minister said that China has always been Thailand’s key trading partner and was Thailand’s second largest exporter in 2019, the largest source of imports, tourism nearly 11 million Chinese tourists came to Thailand in 2019 – an increase of 4%, making it the largest source country for tourists. There were about 600,000 tourists from Thailand to China – an increase of 10%.

Meanwhile, the service industry also plays an important role in the overall economy in Thailand. In 2018, GDP of service industry is 64% of GDP of tourism industry. Old traditional service industry, trade, tourism, hotel and restaurant is 14% of overall DGP. Despite the impact of the new epidemic in 2020, economic exchange and trade between Thai-China is closer and trade volume increased continuously, especially in the first 7 months of 2020 where the trade volume of both countries has reached 54.176 billion US Dollars – 6.5% increase. Thailand’s exports to China has reached 27,500 million US Dollars – 10.5% increase. The minister also suggested that Thailand currently open domestic tourism, encourage the return of domestic travel and other measures has gradually continued considering the ease of the epidemic. It is expected to that there will be good news about opening the tourism between Thailand and China soon.

Chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Thailand – Lin Chuqin, delivered a speech that China International Fair for Trade in Services in 2020 held a meeting with a cloud-based platform to keep us from being affected by the epidemic – coordinated host with industry organizations and organizations from China meetings to discuss and explore opportunities for cooperation emerging after the epidemic.

Associate Professor Soranit Siltham, Permanent Secretary of Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation of Thailand has sent a video of his speech for this discussion. He gave a speech on the international development trend of higher education in Thailand and in the post-epidemic era: in the context of the epidemic, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation of Thailand cooperate with the Ministry of Public Health in coordinating the fight against the epidemic and jointly take proactive measures for affected students for example using an online teaching style and various universities has adopted an online teaching method in almost every course since April. Meanwhile Thai higher education has also launched an online learning platform MOOC.org, which can host nearly 500 learning content courses which currently registered 495,000 people. Associate Professor Soranit Siltham believe that higher education in Thailand will be developed seriously and higher education will become something that can be done for a lifetime, not only for people at 18-24 years old but also for people at all ages can learn and enjoy education. The clear policy on digital transformation issued by the Thai government will be better aligned with new technologies and ideas to expand lifelong education. At present, higher education in Thailand has prepared to accept more foreign students to study in Thailand both online and offline, and prepare for online teaching.

Dr.M.R.R.Siwat from the Research Center Kasikorn Bank, lecture and analyze of economic trends in Thailand, the future industrial cooperation opportunities between Thai and Chinese enterprises, and future industrial development forecasts especially virtual travel in the future, virtual experience, new energy and other fields in development areas.

Ms.Wanna Lorluelert, Managing Director of Borthong Industrial Estate Thailand, stated about “New opportunities for cooperation in Thailand’s new energy industry and smart energy”, including introducing new energy policy of Thailand, new energy vehicle in the next 20 years, industrial standard, and related information such as charging station, battery standard and motivation policy. Borthong Industrial Estate is a sample of Smart Industrial Estate with complete services and is one of the first choice settlements for business operators in Thailand.

Wang Caiyi, Vice Chairman of JD.com, stated about details on complete service and supply chain matching of JD.com, including complete system that is not only for support sales of Chinese products but also efficient platform for Thai products export to China.
